Road Run

On Saturday 30th June '18, Lancashire Traction Engine Club will be holding a steam Road Run. This will begin at The Hollybush, Warrington Road, Little Leigh, CW8 4QY. The route will be around the area for a few miles, ending back at the Hollybush for a social evening on Saturday night. After the Steam Heritage Festival

Over the weekend of 19th & 20th May '18 we jointly hosted the Lancashire Steam Heritage Festival at Lancashire Mining Museum, Astley Green. The sun shone, 17 full sized engines and many more miniature engines, tractors, cars and motorbikes attended the event and everyone had a fabulous time. 
It was the first event we had been involved in organising for 8 years, but the people came and all feedback, so far, has been positive.

Lancashire Steam Heritage Festival

It has been a timely coincidence that two ailing Lancashire Heritage clubs have both had somewhat of a renaissance in the last few years.

The Lancashire Traction Engine Club has run many successful rallies in its 53 year history. The Burtonwood Rally may be remembered by some readers and, more recently, May Day Steam which it ran for 29 years alongside the Urmston & District Model Engineering Society. This year's AGM will take place on SATURDAY 3rd March, at Bolton Steam Museum.
There will be a private steaming of the museum, followed by the AGM meeting, pie and peas and the annual quiz and photoraphic competition.
All members have been sent all details and can book through the online system or by calling the Membership Secretary, Hazel. Non-members are also welcome as guests of members.

Due to the expense and poor attendance of the monthly meeting, it has been decided that these will now be on a more casual basis. All members who use our on-line service will be informed about meetings and events by email and will be able to book spaces using the on-line booking system; click on "Events" in the blue bar towards the top of the page.

As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations we are building an onlne archive of the history of the club. This will include many previously unseen photos digitally reproduced for the first time from members slides and prints.

Lymm Historic Transport Day

The 28th June was the day most of Cheshire went to Lymm, so it seemed. The whole town was buzzing with people who came to see the many examples of historic machinery on display.

The day started with a parade through the town, where bicycles, motorbikes, cars, horse-drawn floats, tractors and, of course, steam engines passed through the picturesque town on their way to the May Queen Field or other locations around the town.

The AGM took place on Sunday 1st March and was well attended by 8 committee members and 14 other members.


The main news to report were a few alterations to the committee members. Richard Fairhust has resigned after 20 years good service to the club. I would like to offer our thanks for his hard work over the years. This left a number of vacancies on the committee but two members present were willing to stand so we would like to welcome Hughie Winterbottom and Chris Adamson ...

Lymm Historic Transport Day
