The 28th June was the day most of Cheshire went to Lymm, so it seemed. The whole town was buzzing with people who came to see the many examples of historic machinery on display.
The day started with a parade through the town, where bicycles, motorbikes, cars, horse-drawn floats, tractors and, of course, steam engines passed through the picturesque town on their way to the May Queen Field or other locations around the town.
On the May Queen Field there was bands playing, a fair for the children and many of the vehicles on display, plus stalls and other displays. Around the town there were model railway exhibitions, art exhibitions, a large collection of steam engines (supplied by our own members and sponsored by the Lancashire Traction Engine Club) plus hundreds of canal boats of all shapes and sizes.
Later in the day the canal boats did a parade of their own while the crowds still lined the banks.
A tremendous event and, considering it is only in its third year, a very successful one. I'm looking forward to next year already.
Take a look at the gallery to see lots of pictures taken on the day.

This year we are proud to have been asked to supprt the Lymm Historic Transport Day.
Since the demise of May Day Steam in 2011, the LTEC has had no real input to any local steam event. However, the LHTD, now entering it's third year, has been going from strength to strength. The steam section of the event has, until now, been small but, with input and sponsorship from the LTEC club, will become a major part of the event and a new focus for the club as a whole.
15 full sized engines are hoping to attend for a steam party on Saturday 27th June, followed by taking a major role in the parade and attractions of the main event on Sunday 28th June.
The support and collaboration between the two clubs has been offered for one year only, on a trial basis, but I can see no reason why this shouldn't become a fruitful partnership for both clubs in the future.
